What is DLNA?
You might have heard the term DLNA knocked around over the last few years. Or maybe you've just noticed a DLNA sticker on your laptop or PC and wondered what it was.
DLNA stands for Digital Living Network Alliance, and it's all about creating a standard for devices in the home to communicate with each other and share data. There are a range of DLNA certified devices available including PCs, laptops, TVs, DVRs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, printers and phones. DLNA is not a manufacturer, but an agreement between many manufacturers on certain communication standards that allow you to share photos, music and video media between different types of electrical equipment in your home over a wired or wireless network.
What can it do for me?
Have you got pictures on your phone that you've taken with the built-in camera that you want to show to everyone? Have you got loads of music stored on your PC that you only every listen to on your iPod? Have you got a huge stack of DVDs littering up your living room?
Well these are the types of scenarios that DLNA can help with.
